Password-protected statements. Emailed HDFC e-statements are usually locked with your customer ID, or the first four letters of your name followed by your date of birth as DDMM. Your password is typed into this page and used in your browser — it is never sent anywhere.
The bank's own export is not the same data. HDFC NetBanking offers a statement download per period. Emailed e-statements arrive encrypted, which is normal in India and not a problem here.
Things that trip people up with HDFC Bank
The statement is almost always encrypted, and that is fine

Interest rows are dated by period, not by day
A line like “INT.PD:01-04-2026 TO 27-04-2026” contains two dates inside the narration. We take the transaction date from the date column and leave the narration intact, rather than letting a date inside the text hijack the row.
