What matters about this format
The difference between a file that imports and a file that is rejected is almost never the extension. It is the column shape, the date format and the size limit.
Each pair must net to zero
QuickBooks Desktop rejects an IIF whose transaction and split lines do not balance, with an error that tells you almost nothing. Ours balance by construction.
Use QBO instead where you can
Intuit has deprecated IIF repeatedly and QuickBooks Desktop 2019 and later prefer Web Connect. If your version accepts a .qbo, take that route — no column mapping and no balancing to worry about.
