How we read Barclays, field by field
This is the part other converters leave out. These are the real properties of the statement layouts, and how each one is handled — written from the statements we tested, not from a template.

The bank's own export is not the same data. Barclays online banking exports the last few months as CSV or QIF. Statement PDFs cover considerably longer, and are the only route to a running balance.
Things that trip people up with Barclays
Barclaycard statements are a different layout entirely
The credit card statement has no running balance and prints the amount in a single column with no sign, so direction comes from the debit/credit marker. We read it, and we tell you which check could not run.
Reference text on the second line is part of the transaction
A Barclays reference frequently wraps. Converters that treat each line as a row produce twice as many transactions as the statement has. Ours merges the continuation into the description and the row count matches the statement.
